The General page in the settings dialog contains some options which can be used to change behaviour of Locate32 dialog. The General tab contains the following options:
This group contains options related to the result list and mouse. It contains options to specify how items in the result list are selected. You can use $MENUMAIN_VIEW_SELECTDETAILS@M$ command under View menu to specify how items are opened.
Use current system folder settings: If this option is enabled, Locate32 uses same settings as Windows Explorer to decide how items in the result list are selected.
Point to select: If this option is enabled, items in the result list can be selected by pointing them. Several items can be selected by using Ctrl ans Shift keys. If this option is enabled, you can specify that when the file names are underlined by using the following options:
Never underline file names: The files in the results list are never underlined.
Underline file names when I point at them: The files in the results list are underlined when you point them with the cursor.
Always underline file names: The files in the results list are always underlined.
Click file to select: If this option is enabled, items in the result list can be selected by clicking them.
This group contains options related opening and closing Locate32 dialog.
Minimize to system tray: If this option is enabled, Locate32 dialog is not shown in the task bar when the dialog is minimized.
Close button minimizes the main dialog: If this option is enabled, the main dialog of Locate32 is minimized when Close button (X) is clicked on the window's title bar..
Save content of fields and restore when dialog is opened again: If this option is enabled and Locate dialog closed, the content of edit fields, selections in combo boxes and check states in Locate32 dialog are restored when the dialog is opened next time.
Leave Locate32 running on background when the main dialog is closed: If this option is enabled, the application is not completely exited when the main dialog is closed. Instead, the locate32 process leave running on background. You can use the system tray icon to open Locate dialog or for other features. The similar behaviour takes place when Locate32 is started with '-S' argument, for example, using shortcut in Startup menu (this option is disabled if '-S' argument is given).
This group contains options related default values for fields in Locate32 dialog. These options do not have immediate effect. The options in the Advanced tab (in the main dialog) will ultimately define the parameters for searches, these default values are used just when you open the main dialog or press "New Search" button.
Sorting: This option specifies how items in the results list are sorted by default. For example, if you choose "Size", files are sorted by file size when initiate a new search. The default order can be chosen using "Ascending" and "Descending" check boxes.
Match whole name only: If this option is enabled, the Match whole name only check box in the Advanced tab of the main dialog is enabled by default.
Check: This option specifies default selection for Check field in the Advanced tab of the main dialog.
Replace spaces with '*': If this option is enabled, Replace spaces with asterisks check box in the Advanced tab of the main dialog is enabled by default.
Use whole path: If this option is enabled, Use whole path check box in the Advanced tab of the main dialog is enabled by default.
Match case (for "File containing text"): This option specifies the default state for Match case check box on right of File containing text check box (in the Advanced tab in the main dialog).
